Dear SAA Families
As we approach the March Break we would like to take time to share with parents the attached information from York Region Public Health pertaining to the Flu and Norovirus. If your children have the symptoms outlined in the attached they should stay home from school for their own safety and that of their peers.
A child who is sick will not be able to perform well in school and is likely to spread the illness to other children and staff. We suggest making a plan for children ahead of time so you will not be caught without a comforting place for your child to stay if he/she is ill
If your child becomes ill at school and staff feel the child is too sick to benefit from school or is contagious to other children, you will be called to come and take him/her home from school. It is essential that the school office have a phone number where you can be contacted during the day and an emergency number in the event you cannot be reached. Please be sure arrangements can be made to take your child home from school and that childcare is available. If your daytime and emergency numbers change during the year, please notify the office immediately.
Some students have medical conditions that can become life threatening when they are exposed to chicken pox, fifth disease, flu, norovirus etc…. Please contact the school promptly if your child is diagnosed with these or any new changing health problem that might cause learning or safety concerns for your child and/or others.
