Family Literacy day falls on January 27th this year.. Each year we celebrate Family Literacy Week as a means to acknowledge the importance of reading and other literacy-related pursuits. The week-long celebration was developed by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 to celebrate adults and children reading and learning together. https://abclifeliteracy.ca/all-programs/family-literacy-day/
It encourages Canadian families to spend at least 15 minutes a day enjoying an activity together. This year’s theme is “Travel the World Together.” Classroom teachers will have interactive activities posted in their classroom, where your child can explore the world through readings, games, and other fun activities. Ms Zanette has posted activities on her Library site as well https://sites.google.com/ycdsb.ca/saa-library-learning-commons-s/home
In honour of Family Literacy Day, we are encouraging SAA Families to share their favourite Family Recipes. Send recipes along with a picture of the family members cooking together.
